Mr Chilli Awards 2024 Tomato Based Chilli Sauce 2nd place.

This sauce is our own original recipe. Tomato based with a hint of tangelo.

When I first made this sauce about 15 years ago we thought it was hot. Now we have become regular chilli users we think it is really only a medium heat.

The base sauce is very mild in flavour, I was thinking light South East Asian flavours when I was developing the recipe, but it packs a kick from the Ghost Chillies. (My daughter describes it as smacking you in the mouth).

The name came when I got told, You need to make a really hot sauce.” When I had finished brewing I told Steve to see if it was hot enough for him or did he want it hotter. On tasting the new brew Steve coughed and said, “Holy Sh!t.” then when he got his breath back “Mother of god.” And so the name for the sauce was born. H. S. MOG

Perfect with chicken, pork, fish or vegetables. Try drizzling over salad, use to stirfry prawns, mix with greek yoghurt to make dip or thin slightly to make a salad dressing.

While this sauce is made with gluten free ingredients it is made with the same equipment that we use to make our other sauces that contain gluten (malt vinegar)
